Figure Skating

Welcome to the Stockton Figure Skating School. The knowledge and techniques our students acquire will provide them with the basic skills and confidence in the fun way to fitness.

ICE IS NICE

Ice is Nice is a basic beginner skating lesson designed to give skaters the confidence to move onto our group or hockey lessons. Lesson is on Saturdays from 12:15pm to 12:45pm. Please arrive early, no one will be admitted to the class after 12:15pm. Cost is $7.00 and includes lesson, skate rental and 1:00pm-4:00pm public session.

 

8 Week Basic Skills Group Lessons:

These lessons include 1/2 hour lesson, ice time, skate rental and 8 free public sessions for practice.  Students will be evaluated and must pass a test to move to the next level.  Badges will then be awarded along with Certificates of Achievement.

Cost- $99.00 for the 8 week session.

USFSA yearly membership (required) $12.50

When are these classes?

Saturdays 11:45a.m. - 12:15a.m.

Group Lesson Dates:
Fall- September 6th through October 25th.  Sign-ups end August 30th.
Winter- November 1st through December 20th.  Sign-ups end October 22nd.
Winter- January 3rd through February 21st. Sign-ups end December 17th.
Spring- February 28th through April 25th. Sign-ups end February 19th.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the lesson time to put on skates and to begin warming up.

General Information

the USFSA Basic Skills program began in 1985, is approved by the PSA, The curriculum is designed to keep skaters enthusiatic about learning from the time they begin lessons until the time the reach their goals. Whether your goal is to achieve Olympic fame or simply enjoy the recreational benefits of skating Basic Skills is for you! The entire Basic Skills program has special slasses for many facets of skating including free skate, pairs, syncgronized skating, choregraphy(Artistry in Motion) and hockey. Currently there are more than 800 programs and 100,000 skaters registered across the United States in the U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills Program.

The Objectives of the program are:

  • To Provide a fun and safe skating experience for the beginner as well ad the more advanced skater To teach correct technique of the basic elements of skating To develop o finer degree of coordination and balance To promote physical fitness
  • To have fun! WHAT ABOUT PRIVATE LESSONS? In addition to group lessons, many skaters find it advantageous to advance their skill through private lessons. Private lessons offer one-on-one learning that is specific to the skater's individual needs. They can also be taken with a friend or sibling. Private Lessons build a relationship between the instructor and skater while opening the door to activities such as competitions, exhibitions, showcases, etc. as well as help the skater learn at an accelerated pace. Please contact the instructors directly to get more information. Private lessons are offered during public and freestyle sessions. Private lesson fees are paid directly to the instructor and do not include public or freestyle session admission.
